In short:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>A content model consists of:\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Highly structured content types<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Relationships between content types<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Metadata, taxonomies assignable to content types<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>A content model also includes the way how content is crafted, the assembly model<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Content modeling is the process of creating a content model and I strongly suggest to include a wide range of stakeholders and to do it collaboratively<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>\ud83d\udca1 How does content modeling look like? In short:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Get a representative of each role, project sponsors, undecided into a meeting<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Get everyone&#8217;s buy in by looking at how a good model would simplify their day-to-day tasks<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Discuss items you agree on, company goals, customer goals<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Agree on core content and list it<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Link content types<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Assign and test if proposed taxonomies and content types would help you to discover content you now struggle to find in your current setup<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Break down bigger content types into smaller ones where needed<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>\ud83d\udca1 What to include into a content type? In short:\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Remove unnecessary content (formatting, layouts, superfluous information)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Check related content pieces to identify repeated content &#8211; that\u2019s the most useful content you have, remove the rest<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Slowly re-add supporting content<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Add relationships, links, tags and metadata&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Think about the users of the content model<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>\ud83d\udca1  When to stop breaking down your content types (chunking)? In short:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Use taxonomies to determine if a content type should be chunked (broken down) further<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Create a universally usable content type for reusable chunks<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Combine content types if the mostly share the same metadata\/taxonomies<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Simplify content creation for editors<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>\ud83d\udca1 How to make your reusable content discoverable? In short:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Difficult to search and discover content causes content friction<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Supporting taxonomies and metadata should add to the content itself, not duplicate it so you expand the terms under which it can be discovered<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Start collecting terms now by noting down instances, when you struggle finding content. Note disown terms, which you used to search for it.&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Group collected terms into logical taxonomy groups<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>\ud83d\udca1 How to create a content type for a page? In short:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Don\u2019t model pages, model objects<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Structure your objects sufficiently<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Try to replace pages with topics and view them as one possible presentation<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Topics (pages) are representing the relationship of the content pieces on them<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>\ud83d\udca1 How to identify your core content for your content model?
